IT giant Infosys has started functioning from its offices in New Town from Wednesday. This was announced by the state IT minister, Babul Supriyo. He has congratulated Infosys on the occasion and mentioned that it will fulfil the dream of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
World Music Day was observed in the city with great enthusiasm.
State IT minister Babul Supriyo has said that the BJP is a Bengali hating party and does not understand the mindset of the Bengalis.
The IT minister said he does not think that only funding won’t do but require the much-needed impetus with their innovative ideas.
"I shall definitely resign as the MP from the Parliament and that you will come to know within two or three days. I shall go by the rulebook. I have some ethics that I have followed all through my life," Supriyo told the media a few minutes after joining Trinamool Congress at Abhishek Banerjee's office in Camac Street in South Kolkata on Saturday afternoon.
"I am grateful to Abhishek Banerjee and Mamata Banerjee for giving me a big opportunity to work for the state and serve the people," he said.
"If you want to do social work, you can do it without being in politics," Supriyo said, adding: "Over the past few days, I have repeatedly taken the decision to leave politics to Hon'ble Amit Shah and Hon'ble Naddaji and I am eternally grateful to them for inspiring me in every way."
Local BJP leadership blamed Supriyo for failing miserably to bolster organisation in Asansol.
In the 40-odd seats that are going to the polls in this phase, the saffron camp has fielded Mr Supriyo, Union minister of state for environment and forest, at Tollygunge, Cooch Behar MP Nisith Pramanik at Dinhata and Hooghly MP Locket Chatterjee from Chinsura in the wake of intraparty squabbles in these constituencies.
