Former Delhi chief minister Atishi has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of relegating Dr. B R Ambedkar’s legacy by replacing his portrait with that of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in key government offices.
The ruckus by AAP legislators came ahead of the tabling of 14 CAG reports by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.
The three-day session commenced on Monday will continue till February 27.
Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva on Monday said it is unfortunate that AAP leader Atishi was continuing to "spread lies" and create confusion even after moving to the opposition.
Senior AAP leader Gopal Rai announced on Sunday that former chief minister Atishi has been elected leader of the legislative party, and hence will be the leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly.
Atishi claimed that the PM had promised at a rally on January 31 that the scheme granting Rs 2,500 to women in Delhi would be passed in the first cabinet meeting of the BJP government.
Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva on Friday criticized former Chief Minister Atishi, stating that instead of questioning the BJP, she should prepare to answer for her government’s actions based on findings in the CAG reports.
In a sharp rebuttal to Atishi’s remarks, CM Gupta said, “The Congress ruled for 15 years and the AAP ruled for 13. Instead of looking at what they did, how can they raise questions on one day of ours?"
Atishi said that the BJP had promised to pass the scheme to give Rs 2500 per month to every woman in Delhi in the first cabinet meeting itself but no decision was taken on this.
With the new government’s first cabinet meeting scheduled for 7 PM on Thursday, Former CM Atishi called upon the BJP to deliver on its word.
