Delhi police have geared up for the smooth conduct of the assembly polls with adequate security measures ensuring the security of nominees carrying out rallies and road shows, as well as strict enforcement of the model code of conduct.
Nine nominations have been filed on Friday, on the first day of filing of nominations for the February 5 Assembly polls in Delhi.
The meeting, chaired by Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora, was attended by senior officers from Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Rajasthan, Chandigarh, and J&K.
Ahead of the Delhi assembly elections, the BJP has sought suggestions from the residents of the city to be included in its ‘Sankalp Patra’ (manifesto). The suggestions can be made through phone and email.
During the scrutiny of the nomination papers filed by 279 candidates, the candidature of 244 candidates was found valid as per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India.
Tuesday was the last day of filing nomination papers for the first phase of Assembly polling scheduled to be held on 18 September.
In the first phase, polling will be held in 24 Assembly constituencies including Pulwama, Kulgam, Ramban, Doda and Shopian in the Union Territory.
A meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary, Atal Dulloo was held to draw a plan for making the Legislative Assembly complexes at both Srinagar and Jammu ready for holding its sessions after the elections.
Mrs. Kejriwal will be accompanied by Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, AAP senior leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh and party's National general secretary Sandeep Pathak.
