The Indian Army, along with the Assam Rifles and in coordination with the Manipur Police and other security forces, nabbed eight cadres and recovered 25 weapons, ammunition, and warlike stores in a series of joint operations conducted in multiple districts of Manipur, officials said on Monday.
The Assam Rifles has seized heroin worth Rs 34.5 lakh in Champhai district of Mizoram.

In a major operation, the Assam Rifles seized a large cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives, including 15 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and 42 country-made grenades, from Manipur's Tengnoupal district.
One battalion is being dispatched from Telangana’s Warangal, while the other is en route from Jharkhand’s Latehar. These forces will establish bases in Kangvai, Churachandpur district, and around the capital, Imphal, respectively.

One person was killed and four others were injured when the railway police opened fire to control the situation.

The police said the incident took place at around 11 a.m. near Sekhen village, as the heavily armed People's Liberation Army (PLA) and Manipur Naga People's Front (MNPF) militants opened fire on the convoy of Assam Rifles killing Colonel Viplav Tripathi, his wife, their 9-year-old son, three Quick Reaction Team (QRT) jawans and the driver on the spot.
In another raid, the Central paramilitary troopers along with Mizoram police on Thursday recovered three pistols, 174 live rounds, three kg explosives, nine detonators, and other such stores including Improvised Explosive Devices from a jungle at Hmawngbu village.
