Lakera said this at Assam Rifles Inspector General’s Conference 2024 which took place at the Directorate General Assam Rifles Headquarters in Laitkor, Shillong.
In a major operation, the Assam Rifles seized a large cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives, including 15 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and 42 country-made grenades, from Manipur's Tengnoupal district.
One battalion is being dispatched from Telangana’s Warangal, while the other is en route from Jharkhand’s Latehar. These forces will establish bases in Kangvai, Churachandpur district, and around the capital, Imphal, respectively.
The Assam Rifles (AR) have deployed anti-drone systems in Manipur to counter any 'rogue drones,' and additional anti-drone guns are being brought into the state by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) to enhance security measures.
Speaking to the media, Lieutenant General Nair emphasised that many of the videos currently in circulation are not genuine and do not pertain to the northeastern region of India.
Assam Rifles has been continuously operating against narcotics and drug smuggling in the state in an endeavour to strengthen the future of Mizoram.
In a statement, the Assam Rifles said the drug item was seized in an operation at Phaitol village under Tamenglong district in Manipur.
