Illustrating the last three decades, Mr Bhattacharya has penned his experiences as the Minister for Urban Development and Municipal Affairs for 10 years under the leadership of Jyoti Basu and the next 10 years under Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee.
The Darjeeling district Left Front has called the march to press for its demand for immediate elections to the civic body. The party also plans to highlight the alleged narrow politics of the Trinamul Congress-led board of administrators (BoA) of the corporation when it came to the Covid-19 vaccination process.
The state government has appointed a four-member BoA in the SMC led by Gautam Deb as its chairperson "to handle and contain the grave situation due to the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic" in May.
According to him, the Trinamul Congress has formed its organisation in Manipur and Tripura, but that almost all TMC members joined the BJP in the two states later.
He further alleged that employees belonging to Leftbacked unions were being threatened to join the TMC and are being told that they would lose their jobs if they did not support the party.
Mr Bhattacharya had written to Miss Banerjee, seeking an appointment for discussions on matters related to Siliguri's development. He had earlier said that he received a phone call from the Darjeeling DM, inviting him to the administrative meeting. He has also received an official invitation letter for the meeting
