Owaisi, along with Apna Dal (Kamerawadi) Pallavi Patel, was addressing a public meeting at Azhari Maidan located in Rebri Pond here, on Tuesday night.
All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen candidate from Hyderabad, Asaduddin Owaisi, cast his vote at a polling booth in Hyderabad and said that every opponent in the elections should be taken "seriously."
Owaisi reminded the minority voters that this was not an election for ‘Mamu’ (KCR) but one to get rid of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Referring to renowned poet Munawwar Rana, the minister said that he was one of those people who stayed in India after the partition of 1947 and were involved in the conspiracy to break the country from inside.
AIMPLB chairman, Maulana Rabey Hasani Nadwi said that people should vote after introspection but no one should be compelled to vote for a particular party or individual.
To start its poll campaign, Owaisi was scheduled to address voters in the minority dominated Metiabruz which falls under the Diamond Harbour, Lok Sabha constituency of Mamata Banerjee’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee. However, TMC MP Sougata Roy said state government had nothing to do with this while calling AIMIM ‘BJP’s B team’.
Asaduddin Owaisi had expressed his desire to contest in the upcoming West Bengal State Assembly Election. He had said that AIMIM would tie-up with ISF.
The AIMIM is testing the waters in West Bengal for the first time after the party gained quite a bit of success in Bihar Assembly elections winning five seats.
