Paying homage to the martyrs, who laid down their lives during the agitation for the abrogation of Article 370, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh said on Sunday that the sacrifice of Hiranagar martyrs had heralded the relentless movement for J&K's total integration with the Indian Union.
Hitting out at Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, his party's MP Ruhullah Mehdi on Thursday said the fight for Jammu and Kashmir must center on restoration of Article 370 rather than settling for statehood, which he described as a "hollow promise."
Highlighting the importance of the abrogation of Article 370, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Thursday that it is after its revocation under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership that a new era of development began in the Kashmir valley which was hampered due to terrorism.
Slamming the ruling National Conference (NC), Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday criticized the NC for its inaction on key issues, despite holding a significant number of seats, and asserted that the PDP would take the lead in fighting for restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status, statehood, and release of political prisoners.
There was no mention of any support by the OIC nor demands on India nor any criticism of India’s Kashmir policy.
It seems Prime Minister Khan failed to convince his Cabinet colleagues, particularly, the hardliners, that resumption of India-Pakistan trade relations need not be conditional on the restoration of Article 370 which, after all, is Indias internal matter. When he talked about improvement in India-Pakistan relations was he really serious, or was merely trying to gauge the extent of political support he would get for such a move?
Amit Shah, while “requesting” the political parties and their leaders to understand the situation of the erstwhile state which was bifurcated into two Union Territories,- J&k with a legislative and Ladakh without one, asserted that "it will happen".
He said there were 930 instances of ceasefire violations in 2020, a 54% increase over the 605 instances the previous year indicating Pakistan's nefarious designs to spread terrorism in J&K.
The months that followed the August 5th 2019 measures saw a steep rise in the human rights violations of people in face of disallowing people to pray, blocking communication channels, snatching exclusive jobs rights of local youth.
