Paying homage to the martyrs, who laid down their lives during the agitation for the abrogation of Article 370, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh said on Sunday that the sacrifice of Hiranagar martyrs had heralded the relentless movement for J&K's total integration with the Indian Union.
Hitting out at Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, his party's MP Ruhullah Mehdi on Thursday said the fight for Jammu and Kashmir must center on restoration of Article 370 rather than settling for statehood, which he described as a "hollow promise."
Highlighting the importance of the abrogation of Article 370, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Thursday that it is after its revocation under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership that a new era of development began in the Kashmir valley which was hampered due to terrorism.
Slamming the ruling National Conference (NC), Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday criticized the NC for its inaction on key issues, despite holding a significant number of seats, and asserted that the PDP would take the lead in fighting for restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status, statehood, and release of political prisoners.
If I look towards Kashmir, Article 370 could have been removed earlier as neither the issue is related to any religion or party. If 500 princely states can unite to form India, why was Kashmir kept as a separate entity? Likewise, if we talk about the Ram Janmabhoomi issue, our ideology doesn’t say that we are against any religion but it says we respect all religions.
Dr. Farooq said that every NC worker and leader should stay in touch with the people in every village and locality.
On the second day of his tour to the union territory after abrogation of the Article 370, Shah was addressing a public rally here..
“The reality is that there is a systematic disempowerment of the people of Jammu and Kashmir that is continuing to happen, through bureaucratic rule”, Tarigami said in a statement.
He said this addressing a gathering at the felicitation ceremony organized by Jammu and Kashmir Rural Developmental Society under its “People’s Help Group Initiative” at Tagore Hall, Srinagar.
