Wani’s reaction came a day after PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti applauded her party’s three MLAs who raised the demand for restoration of Article 370 in the recent session of the Assembly.
PDP President Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday commended the role of the party's three MLAs for effectively raising the demand for restoration of Articles 370 and 35A and articulating public sentiments in the recently held first session of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly.
Speaking to reporters during her visit to Budgam district, Mehbooba expressed dissatisfaction with the resolution, stating that it failed to address the abrogation of Article 370 on 5 August 2019.
In a significant development, ruling National Conference (NC) leader and MP Ruhullah Mehdi on Friday issued a stern warning against any attempts to misinterpret the resolution seeking restoration of J&K’s special status passed by the Assembly in its recent session.
He will have a tenure of six months and three days. He will demit office on May 13, 2025.
The Supreme Court on Wednesday was told that Article 370 of the constitution that conferred special status to Jammu & Kashmir could not have been abrogated and the state’s status into two Union Territories could not have been changed without ascertaining the will of the people of the state.
Jammu and Kashmir Peoples' Conference President Sajad Gani Lone on Tuesday said that one of the biggest challenges facing the institution of judiciary is how they deal with Article 370 cases, a party statement said.
On August 5, 2019, the Central government announced the revocation of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir granted under Article 370 and split the region into two Union territories.
Addressing party activists in Ganderbal, Omar said that there is a big difference between National Conference and other political parties.
"Where were they in 2019? Political leaders who are today shouting 'save democracy', where were they when democracy was murdered in J&K? They did not even make any noise. In fact they supported it," said the NC leader.
