There is a time-honoured code of privileged communication in the fraternity of the Armed Forces that mandates honouring the absolute right to privacy of content between the sender and the recipient.
In a thread post on X, Prime Minister Modi said: "On this day, #OneRankOnePension (OROP) was implemented. This was a tribute to the courage and sacrifices of our veterans and ex-service personnel who dedicate their lives to protecting our nation."
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has called on the country's Armed Forces to remain vigilant, modernize, and prepare for various contingencies, emphasizing that unconventional and asymmetric warfare—including hybrid warfare—will play a crucial role in future conflicts.
To counter Naxal threat, the state government has raised three Battalions of ex-servicemen OSSF (Odisha Special Striking Force). Vacancies in other ranks of police are also being filled up, in a time-bound manner.
The meeting was attended by Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat, Defence Secretary Dr Ajay Kumar, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Karambir Singh, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal R K S Bhadauria, Chief of Army Staff General M M Naravane, Secretary Department of Defence R&D and Chairman DRDO Dr G Satheesh Reddy, Additional Secretary (Defence Production) Shri Sanjay Jaju, ADG Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) and other senior officials of MoD.
The bench sought a response from the centre to a request made by the Delhi government for calling in the army to manage the crisis.
The petition titled as Manish Gupta Vs. GNCTD & Ors. has been filed by advocates Praveen K Sharma, Dhananjay Grover and Kamil Khan
Rajnath Singh was briefed on the measures taken by various units under the defence ministry in providing aid to the civil administration in this hour of crisis.
These cadets are paid a lumpsum amount based on their disability percentage which was attributed to military service. They are also given a small ex-gratia payment monthly. However, they are not entitled to any other benefit despite being trainees for a Group A service.
