"The AFMC, Pune is expected to get the status of Institute of National Importance (INI) this year. We expect that AFMC will get the status of Institute of national importance within the time period of next six months," said Singh.
Under the ‘Tour of Duty’ scheme, 400 ex-AMC/SSC medical officers, released between 2017 and 2021, are expected to be recruited on a contract basis for a maximum period of 11 months.
As against 294 doctors and health workers in 2020, 378 have been mobilised in 2021.
Retired profs are required due to shortage of medical teachers in hospitals across the country.
