Symonds was a key member of Australia's World Cup victories in 2003 and 2007, as well as a regular in the ODI side under Ricky Ponting's captaincy. Symonds, who was aggressive and flamboyant, was tailor-made for the T20 format and was involved in the IPL from its inception.
