The TDP accused the Treasury benches of attacking its Dalit MLA D while the ruling YSRCP said it was a pre-planned attack by the TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu to put the MLA in the forefront as the Opposition MLAs went to attack the Speaker.
The resolution passed with 133 members voting in favor of it with no votes against it or abstentions, will now be sent to the Centre for necessary follow-up action.
The proposed new law has been named the Andhra Pradesh Disha Act Criminal Law (AP Amendment) Act, 2019 as a tribute to the veterinary doctor who was raped and murdered recently in neighbouring Telangana.
According to the new law, in case the local candidates lack the skills for the job, the companies, in collaboration with the government, are required to provide the necessary training.
The 46-year-old Jagan, as he is popularly known, was administered oath of office and secrecy by Governor ESL Narasimhan at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium in Vijayawada.
