Considering the fact, the zoo authorities are mulling to take up a breeding project to enable conservation of the animal in the state and have received from the local authorities.
The incident has brought to the fore questions about security arrangements in the zoo.
Alipore Zoological Garden in Kolkata has taken several measures that include administering antivirus medicines to animals showing signs of sickness.
“Around two-third of the visitors enter the Memorial's museum,” informed an official of Victoria Memorial.
As people geared up to cheer and make merry, the city seemed keen to catch the festive air on a blustery Sunday morning.
Speaking at the inauguration programme, the forest minister said, “The Alipore Zoo got three new additions today just before the Christmas and new year holiday season. Four wild dogs and two female lion cubs named as Isha and Nisha were released today for public viewing. An enclosure for the nocturnal animals was also thrown open for the public today.”
The visitors will not be allowed to bring plastic bottles, food containers and polythene bags.
There are four tigers in the park presently--three female and one male. Among the four tigers, two are cubs- -Rika, Kika-and the two adult ones are Sheela and Vivan.
