A day after polling concluded for nine assembly by-elections, Samajwadi Party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav wrote a letter on Thursday thanking the people of Uttar Pradesh for maintaining their morale despite alleged administrative pressure during voting.
“Earlier, engines were colliding; now, even the coaches of the so-called ‘double-engine government’ are clashing. After the Maharashtra elections, their own people will undermine the foundations of those who raised hollow slogans,” he remarked.
He said that those who gave the slogan 'One Nation, One Election' are now unable to even conduct a single examination, despite promising to hold record examinations.
The SP chief said despite all its efforts, the BJP government failed the break agitating students and had to bow in front of them passing the buck to the officials of the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission.
Alluding to the BSP supremo’s habit of changing sides after polls, the SP chief had questioned her inclusion in the INDIA bloc.
Yadav was addressing a press conference after the national conference of Samajwadi Mahila Sabha at SP headquarters here.
"Elections through ballot paper are necessary to restore the faith in democracy,” said the Samajwadi Party president.
By handing over the command of Madhya Pradesh to Mohan Yadav, BJP has not only wooed backward voters in that state but also tried to make inroads into the Yadav vote bank in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan and Haryana.
Talking about Akash Anand being anointed as the heir to Mayawati, the SP President said that no matter who is the successor of the BSP, we hope that the distance will be maintained from the BJP.
