Deep justified his selection by returning with two wickets in India’s 280-run win against Bangladesh in the opening Test in Chennai, and looked on course to cement his side for the second Test in Kanpur.
In Bangalore's opening match against Punjab, Deep had brought out the short-ball play but the plan didn't go well. Against Kolkata, Deep re-executed the plan and it fetched him good results.
He asked the BCCI to probe how such a sub-standard surface was prepared for a big game like this.
