A bench headed by CJI Ranjan Gogoi has asked Karti Chidambaram to deposit a security deposit of Rs 10 crore.
The apex court also ordered Karti Chidambaram to deposit Rs 10 crore with the court if he wanted to go abroad.
The Delhi High Court had earlier on November 29 extended Chidambaram’s interim protection from arrest in the money laundering case till January 15.
The CBI is probing alleged irregularities in grant of FIPB approval in Aircel-Maxis deal, while the ED is probing alleged money-laundering related to the deal.
Chidambaram and his son Karti Chidambaram were named in the chargesheet filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the case on July 19.
However, Special Judge O.P. Saini had directed Chidambaram to join investigations, whenever required.
A special court here on Tuesday extended till August 7 the interim protection from arrest granted to P. Chidambaram in the Aircel-Maxis deal case.
The bench, after perusing the documents placed before it in a sealed cover, said sensitive issues were involved in the matter.
