Demanding financial devolution from the central pool without any discrimination, the opposition AIADMK on Sunday pressed for reverting Education back to the State List in the Constitution.
Bringing uncertainty to the AIADMK’s iconic ‘Two Leaves’ symbol, the Election Commission of India on Wednesday submitted before Madras High Court that it would take a fresh look within four weeks on the issue of allotting the symbol to the candidates nominated by party general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS).

In the recent assembly elections, the BJP was able to wrest four assembly seats in an alliance with the AIADMK and the PMK. The saffron party now wants to take this forward and become a major political force in the state.
Sasikala is trying to capitalise on this rift, and on Wednesday, spoke to a district-level leader of AIADMK at Salem and told him that Paneerselvam was supportive towards her on the inside and was waiting for the ripe time to throw his hat in the ring.
The anti-corruption NGO, Arappor Iyyakam had complained against the minister in awarding contracts of Chennai and Coimbatore corporations. The report of the Audit and Account General tabled in the Tamil Nadu assembly had also concurred with the allegations raised by the NGO.
