Afghan police arrest 12 drug smugglers

Afghan counter-narcotics police have arrested 12 people on the charge of drug smuggling in seven out of Afghanistan's 34 provinces, the Ministry of Interior said in a statement on Monday.

It is reported in the press that in Pakistan, 12 security personnel were killed last month when a suicide bomber rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into a check post in Pakistan’s north-western Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

India, Pakistan close to deal on transporting wheat to Afghanistan

India in October had announced 50,000 metric tonnes of wheat for Afghanistan as humanitarian assistance and requested Pakistan to open its border for transporting the food grains. Pakistan, which otherwise does not allow two-way trade between India and Afghanistan, decided to create an exception by allowing the Indian wheat to pass through its land route.

Poverty forces Afghan kids out of school

Afghanistan is considered the worst place to be a child, as 4 million children are out of school and 2 million are working as child labourers, according to estimates by international organisations.
