Pakistan had closed the border at Chaman and Torkham on Friday in connection with parliamentary elections in Afghanistan that suspended trade activities in the border towns.
"The decision (to shut gates) has been taken to support Afghanistan in smooth conduct of upcoming Parliamentary elections in the country (on Saturday)," the FO said.
