The Health Ministry said the Omicron variant is "spreading rapidly" and warned that 19 districts in India are at "high risk" of a surge in Covid cases.
With the administration of 19,10,917 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, the country's Covid inoculation coverage has reached 133.17 crores as of Monday morning.
India's active cases account for less than 1% of total cases and are currently at 0.27% which is the lowest since March 2020, the data showed.
With 251 more fatalities, the total tally of Corona related deaths mounted to 4,58,437.
Maharashtra has reported the highest daily new cases at 51,751. It is followed by Uttar Pradesh with 13,604 while Chhattisgarh reported 13,576 new cases.
More than 74% of the Active Cases of the country are in Kerala and Maharashtra. Of late it is seen that there has been a spike in the daily cases in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh also. Punjab and J&K too are witnessing a surge in daily new cases.
As per the Ministry’s data, 1,02,65,706 people have recovered so far and currently there are 1,92,308 active cases.
India’s total Active Caseload has fallen to 2.78 lakh (2,78,690) today. This is the lowest after 170 days. The total active cases were 2,76,682 on 10th July 2020.
