As feared by the nephew that his aunty has been poisoned to death, the post-mortem report of Deben Mahato Medical College Hospital in Purulia has confirmed that Congress councillor of Jhalda Municipality Purnima Kandu has died due to poisoning.
On the directives of the West Bengal government, two teams from Purulia have rushed to Chakradharpur in neighbouring Jharkhand to look after the passengers of the state at wee hours today.
The Election Commission of India has directed the state Chief Secretary, B.P.Gopalika to remove the present Police superintendent of Purulia, Abhijit Banerjee by 10 AM tomorrow and submit names of three IPS officers to the ECI.
Banerjee, who is also the chairperson of the Global Advisory Board on the Covid-19 pandemic set up by the West Bengal government, said while speaking on the continuous increase in cess for the last seven years, "The government has a fiscal problem. This is a government that has more faith in balancing the budget than realising the actual problem. I have been in favour of more free-spending policies. This (increase of cess) is because of that."

Incidentally, three ‘Randomistas’ – Abhijit Banerjee, Esther Duflo and Michael Kremer – won the Nobel prize in Economics for their study on poverty, by incorporating a century- old purely statistical concept called ‘randomized controlled trials’ (RCT).
Miss Banerjee said: The entire economic situation in the country is gloomy but Bengal presents an exceptional case.
