As part of the campaign, party workers will reach out to city residents with a letter from Kejriwal telling people the "truth" behind his arrest and that of other party leaders in corruption cases.
Chief Minister Kejriwal is currently in Tihar Jail under judicial custody. He was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 21 in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case.
"The new campaign is aimed at increasing public awareness about the fraudulent arrest of Arvind Kejriwal and to encourage them to vote for him," the AAP said.
"It is worth noting that the BJP has put up objectionable hoardings across Delhi. On Friday morning, the AAP had filed a complaint with the Election Commission of India regarding this," said the party.
After the protest called by AAP for the arrest of Deputy CM Manish Sisodia by CBI, heavy police deployment was seen outside the headquarters of AAP.
"The AAP government is duty bound to disclose how a sealed report was made available to the AAP leadership and was also leaked to the media,” Prof Chandumajra added.
The complaint against the first-time member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) was lodged by the husband of a village sarpanch, Pritpal Kumar, in Bathinda.
Elections to the mayor and deputy mayor are long overdue as three previous meetings held on January 6 and 24 and February 6 were adjourned without holding elections following a ruckus between BJP and AAP councillors over the 'voting rights of nominated councillors'.
The party said, "After the Supreme Court's Friday ruling that the nominated members cannot vote for mayoral election, the LG should resign immediately as he delayed the polls over two-and-a-half months."
