South Korean tech giant Samsung led the 5G segment with a 28 per cent market share, followed by Vivo with a 15 per cent market share.
At the recently held 5G spectrum auction for 5G services by the Department of Telecom, Airtel acquired 19867.8 MHZ range in 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz, 3300 MHz, and 26 GHz frequencies.
"Jio is set to lead India's march into the 5G era," chairman Akash Ambani said in a statement, promising "services, platforms and solutions that will accelerate India's digital revolution".
The NIA was issued soon after the Union Cabinet gave its nod to the department's proposal to conduct the 5G spectrum auction.
