Hyatt Dining Club of Hyatt Regency, Kolkata, recently held a cooking master class session “Cook with Chef” at La Cucina in Hyatt Regency with chef Debiprasad Rath, well-known as chef DP.
He has spent 12 years perfecting his trade and is the Chef de Cuisine at La Cucina, an Italian restaurant at Hyatt Regency Kolkata. The session “Cook with Chef” was an opportunity for the food lovers to try their hands at some delicacies from a widespread variety of starters, main course and desserts. The arrangements done were worth appreciation.
The invited guests joined hands with the chef and learned delectable treats at the open kitchen. The chef started with an Italian Starter, Anti Pasti (Mozzarella Caprese). The main ingredient to it was Mozzarella cheese with other additional ingredients like cherry tomato and Sardinian bread. It was garnished with basil, olive oil salt and pepper, lastly added with some balsamic vinegar reduction. The next dish was something which has to be talked about, Gnocchi that can be addressed both as pasta and as dumplings.
This is a must try dish full of cheese. A mouthful of Gnocchi will be a cheesy blast inside the mouth. Next, he prepared everyone’s favourite, Pizza. But the pizza was prepared via Condoti. The hand tossed pizza with fresh mushrooms, marinated zucchini, tofu, tomatoes and cashew nut, was something truly remarkable.
Sea Bass was in the list for main course, which was pure bliss for the non-vegetarians and fish lovers. The perfectly cooked fleshy Bass was served with potatoes, cream, lime, salt, pepper and olive oil, which is a must in Italian cuisine. Lastly he prepared the dessert, Pistachio Lava Cake, a dessert loved by all.
It was a truly luxurious experience as the guests and food lovers enjoyed these dishes, starting from the starters to the desserts. The Chef explained the processes while preparing the dishes. He started his journey as a Chef in Novotel, Hydrabad and then he went to Dubai. He has been the chef de cuisine in La Cucina since three months now.
He said that he had also organised few classes for kids and couples in Abu Dhabi and he plans to do it in Kolkata as well.
The Chef who has his roots in Bhubaneswar, Odisha added that “Actually nothing inspired me. At that point of time there were not so many options so I had to choose this as my career, but now if anyone asks me to switch this profession then of course I will not. At that time my all friends were doing hotel management so I choose it, but when I started doing the classes I really enjoyed doing it. I never thought that I will reach this point, but yes you need to push yourself and I did a lot of hard work.”
