Love your natural self

Today it is becoming increasingly important to look youthful than to ensure good mental and physical health. Cosmetic surgery is being misused to transform and often distort one’s natural body. Such an issue formed the crux of the dialogue held recently at The Bengal Chambers, Kolkata, in a talk show titled “Wake up Call”.

This was attended by actor Arindam Sil, cardiologist Rabin Chakraborty, oncologist Arundhati Chakraborty and actress Tanushree Chakraborty among others.

Sil spoke on how one’s desire to “look good” is more often about competition, belittling self worth. Rabin Chakraborty elaborated on the importance of having a healthy, well-balanced diet and the need to improve physically rather than cosmetically.

“People from creative field require nurturing since they are prone to insecurities and uncertainty, which their careers often entail. They suffer from vices such as alcoholism, anorexia and also mental depression. So it’s very important to counsel them and talk about this issue more often,” said Arundhati Chakraborty.
