Go for the ‘everyday look’

The clothing brand, Tahweave, recently launched their latest collection ‘Unchartered’ at Lakme Fashion Week W|F 2018. Their collection aptly named was inspired by the Irish landscape. Natural and hand-woven fabrics like cotton, cotton/silk, sheer silk organza with wool and the lush Bangalore silk with mercerised cotton were used to create a balanced rhythm in the ensembles.

Out of their sheer affection for regional crafts and sore belief in reviving and reliving them, the designers, have concentrated on the weaves and embroideries that help accentuate the silhouettes of the ensembles.

The collection reflects the same by highlighting the delicate beauty of the creations that has been achieved by addition of embellishments, which are an intricate study of perfect cutwork and ‘Kantha’ stitches. These interesting details added an earthy glam to the edgy and structured silhouettes.

It deals with everyday chic and easy women’s wear and consists of several layering, quilted trench coats, asymmetric over layers, drapes, dresses, and tunics. All of which indulged in beautiful, elegant  and earthy shades like ash rose, berry, earth red, emerald green and blues with minimal embroidery.

The tranquillity of the mystical rocky terrain of the Irish mountain lands, on a magical night, was an instant inspiration for artistic expression for the duo. This collection reflects nature’s rugged beauty and glory.

The trench coat, the asymmetric skirts, the drop-waist checked maxi over shift and the bias, pleated, checks/striped dress brought the story of the collection to the forefront. Layering played a major role for the creations, like front and rear overlapping yokes were added to create an interesting silhouette for the coat dress. Asymmetry was also important for the collection to project a fluid and flowing look to the garments.

Closing the show was the beautiful Kriti Kharbanda who sashayed across the ramp in an intricately woven, softly draped, jumpsuit with a sheer long shrug.

When fabrics, crafts and nature’s hues make a glamourous confluence, the “Unchartered” collection for their label ‘Tahweave’ will trace a great fashion journey. It is a handcrafted clothing brand

that believes in reliving the craft mostly all over the world and concentrates on its weaves and minimal embroideries that helps to accentuate the ensemble.

Tahweave believes in contributing towards building a lifestyle and providing people with a range of affordable and comfortable organic clothing perfectly suitable for a tropical country like India.

“The weavers have always helped create our contemporary designs into reality with natural fabrics and age old hand embroideries from different remote areas of India. Therefore Besides engaging the weavers with as much work we can give them, we also pass on a small percentage of the profits they make on these garments to the weaver community to help them keep these crafts alive.” express co-founders Sweta and Priyangsu.
