Diversity is a word that has been talked about for quite a long time now, if we understand diversity, it in simple terms is visible and invisible traits that result in broader experiences among humans and the living. The world has become globalised in nature where businesses are operating all across cultures, languages, and geographies. Fostering diversity is a strategic imperative.

Biological sciences: Addressing global challenges while building a successful career

In 2015, the United Nations outlined 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) aimed at eradicating poverty, protecting our planet, and ensuring equality for all. These goals address a wide range of global challenges, including climate change, the biodiversity crisis, and pressing health issues like antibiotic resistance and cancer. Biological scientists play a crucial role in tackling these challenges and can also benefit from the diverse career opportunities available to them.

SurTech hosts summit to encourage industry interactions for students

Dr Sudhir Chandra Sur Institute of Technology and Sports Complex (SurTech), a JIS Group Educational Initiative and Idea-O-Meter successfully hosted the ‘Academia and Industrial Summit 2024’ on 8 November at the SurTech Campus at Dumdum, Kolkata, to bridge the gap between academia and industry, creating invaluable opportunities for SurTech students.

What did you learn in school today?

Bhaber Pathshala (or Bhabshala) was started in 2022 in a place called Mohishdhal Moujar, just 10 km away from Shantiniketan station with probably the same peripheral vision of spreading the essential mediums of art and activities. Four people and their need to create communities started this space. Arnab Sengupta, Meenu Baske, Pritam Chakraborty, and Anjan Das started the initiative to teach the local Santali kids.

Whether it was to be a doctor by day or a homicide detective by night, I was painting pictures far beyond my ability and, not to mention reality. When I ultimately couldn't decide, I chose to do the most heroic thing. I took up science in class 11.
