Peacemaker season 2: John Cena returns for an action-packed 2025
John Cena returns in 'Peacemaker' Season 2, with new allies, fierce battles, and intense drama, premiering on Max in 2025. Details inside.
WWE superstar John Cena, who made his return to the company in June, is all set to face Baron Corbin at SummerSlam, but the question remains–will Cena stick with the company that made him a global star!
The Superstar, who has been the company's franchise player since 2005, faces the music about his status in the company as a lot is going on in the wrestling world and Cena's personal life as well. Post the WWE shake-up, his status in the company was unknown as it was not revealed to which brand Cena will be exclusive to, Raw or Smackdown. He made his return to the blue brand (Smackdown), revealing that he's been granted his request of being a free agent and compete on both the brands as a part of the deal he made with the company.
The reason behind his status as a free agent in the company was explained by Cena himself when he cut a promo on the blue brand on his return.

"The reason that I wanted to be a free agent and the reason they kind of granted my request is because I don't know if I'll be available for Smackdown specific only or Raw specific only, and I also know that my days are numbered! I just turned 40 in April and we have so many young and talented performers, I don't know how many years I have left. So in the time I have left, I'm gonna do what I can to dedicate to this company. I just want to be able to do it the most time that I possibly can," Cena said.
Given the courtesy to his 15-year-long career with the company and labeled as the "Face of the WWE", Cena has earned his place today in the company and can wrestle as a free agent, which in fact works in favour of the company in terms of merchandise sale and Box Office Draws.
The star has a huge fan base especially among the kids and PG rated audience, who idolise the wrestler as he's the perfect example of a tough guy with a gentle side. Love him or hate him, you can't disrespect the 16-time world champion.
With so many rising talents like Roman Reigns, Finn Balor, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose, all in line to grab the spotlight as the poster boy of the company from Cena, is it time for Cena to step down?
The company's favourite is Reigns, who is booed by the audience far beyond imagination despite playing a heroic character on screen.
As per reports, Cena's latest return is not a full time, rather it's a part time deal as he has a lot going on outside the WWE. He has to shoot for his upcoming movie The Pact, another season of American Grit is in the talks, and he even bagged a pivotal role in the upcoming Transformers spinoff, Bumblebee!
With all these commitments, it can be predicted that he is not back with the company on a full-time basis, but rather to draw the much-needed attention that WWE desperately needs from the fans. Giving credit to Cena's popularity, he had to tie his boots once again and step inside the squared circle.
Cena is now all set to face Baron Corbin at SummerSlam, which is Corbin's biggest match so far in his career and the expected push he's been given to make him the next biggest Heel in the industry by going on one-one against Supercena!
But what will happen when we don't get to see the Titantron filled with Cena's colours, no more Hustle!Loyalty!Respect! and Cena Sucks! chants and the Superman of WWE's face being replaced from the posters with some young upcoming star!
Can the company survive without its most bankable star? Can the audience live in a world without Cena! Only time will tell what role the superstar wrestler would play in the future.
