India had donned the orange jersey to comply with the home and away jersey norms laid down by the International Cricket Council
Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti has blamed the “orange jersey” for ending India’s unbeaten run in the ongoing Cricket World Cup in England. She took to Twitter to express her comments, not long after India had been thoroughly outplayed by England at Edgbaston, Birmingham.
Her tweet suggested that it was the “orange colour” in the new kit of the Indian team which was to be blamed for India’s defeat.
Notably, India had donned the orange jersey to comply with the home and away jersey norms laid down by the International Cricket Council (ICC). Since the hosts already had donned blue, India had to wear a different jersey.

“Call me superstitious but I would say it’s the jersey that ended India’s winning streak in the #ICCWorldCup2019,” Mufti tweeted post the match.

Interestingly, during the match, she had said that at least cricket had brought India and Pakistan on the same page. It is to be noted here that India’s win against England would have increased Pakistan’s chances of making it to the semi-finals.
“Pakistani cricket fans are rooting for India to win the match against England. Chalo kum say kum cricket ke bahaane, for a change both countries are on the same page,” the former CM had tweeted during the match.

As far as the match is concerned, England ended India’s unbeaten run in the World Cup on Sunday when they beat India by 31 runs at Edgbaston. England, in a do or die match. England played exceptionally well to clinch this win against a stronger Indian team.
After winning the toss and deciding to bat first, the English batsmen put up a formidable 337/7 on the board. When they came out to defend this total, England bowlers were up to the task showing remarkable discipline by not allowing the Indian batsmen to score freely. Eventually, India could manage just 306/5.
India will now look to confirm their place in the semi-finals of the ongoing World Cup when they meet Bangladesh at the same venue on Tuesday.
