Disgraced former Australian vice-captain David Warner on Saturday finally talked about the ball-tampering scandal that has brought the Cricket Australia to its knees. At his press conference, Warner apologised to his wife and children, besides to everybody else.
“I want to apologise to my family, especially my wife and daughters,” said a teary-eyed David Warner. “Your love means more than anything to me,” Warner said at the emotional press conference this morning.

“To all Australians, whether you’re a cricket fan or not, I apologise for the impact those actions have had on our country’s reputation. I’ve only ever wanted to bring glory to my country through playing cricket,” Warner further said.
“In the back of my mind I suppose there is a tiny ray of hope that I may one day be given the privilege of playing for my country again, but I am resigned to the fact that that may never happen,” Warner said. “In the coming weeks and months, I’m going to look at how this happened and who I am as a man. I will seek out advice and expertise to help me make serious changes.”
Talking to news.com.au, Candice Warner’s media manager Ms Jacenko said she has nothing but admiration for her client for what she is going through.
“Candice is an exceptional mother, wife and friend and given the circumstances and the barrage of online abuse is coping as best as can be expected,” Jacenko told news.com.au.
“For now, her main focus is to be a support to Warner and protect her children.”
Days after Cricket Australia lifted the leadership ban on David Warner due to his role in ‘Sandpaper-gate’ during the Newlands Test in 2018, the former Australia batter was appointed captain of Big Bash League (BBL) team Sydney Thunder.
Warner, who played his last Test match against Pakistan in Sydney in January has offered to come out of retirement to help the side if need be but Cummins indicated that the team has moved on.
