Elegant Indian batswoman Smriti Mandhana on Sunday (29th July) joined New Zealand’s Sophie Devine to etch her name on the fastest fifty scored so far in Women’s T20. Sophie Devine had scored the fastest T20I fifty against India in Bangalore in 2015. The 22-year-old opener is also the first Indian to play in the KIA Super League (England’s flagship T20 tournament for women). Mandhana remained unbeaten at the score of 52 off 19 balls in a rain-hit match. During her innings, she hit 5 fours and 4 sixes and completed her half-century with a six.

Mandhana also holds the record of now fastest fifty in Kia Super League. Earlier, in her debut match, Mandhana was just two runs short from scoring the fastest KSL fifty as Yorkshire Diamonds dismissed her at the score of 48 off 20 balls.

The prolific Indian batter has amassed 857 runs in 40 T20Is (with a high score of 76). Mandhana has scored 1464 runs in 41 One Day Internationals (with a high score of 135).
