Lewandowski scores brace as Barca thrash Real Madrid in Clasico
The win lifts Barca six points clear of Real Madrid at the top of La Liga and also means Real Madrid's run of 42 La Liga games without defeat comes to an end, reports Xinhua.
The likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Dani Carvajal brought their shooting boots to training!
Struggling Spanish giants Real Madrid may be finding it hard to click in the La Liga, but their last training session had a few netbusters with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Theo Hernandez and Dani Carvajal all getting their names on the ‘scoresheet’.
The first strike is scored by 20-year-old Theo Hernandez, who arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu from bitter rivals Atletico Madrid in 2017. The French defender plays a quick-one two before sending a low shot past the keeper.
A talented player, Hernandez has found playing time hard to come by this season, with Zinedine Zidane opting to use the fullback mostly in cup games.
The second goalscorer is Dani Carvajal with the Spaniard executing a tricky volley perfectly after a smart cross from winger Gareth Bale. Carvajal hasn’t played as much as he would have liked this season either, albeit for very different reasons.
The 26-year-old was sidelined with a heart problem in September and it seemed at one stage that he may never be able to play again, but the 5’8 fullback made a miraculous recovery and is a regular for Zidane’s side once again.
Saving the best for the last, talismanic forward Cristiano Ronaldo scores with a delightful dink over Keylor Navas before running away to celebrate. Ronaldo, who turned 33 on Monday, has not been at his prolific best this season.
A tally of 19 goals in 245 appearances (all competitions) is a record most forwards would be proud of, but not what the world has come to expect from the Portuguese superstar.
Real Madrid, fourth in the league table, have La Liga clash with Real Sociedad on Saturday, but their main focus will be next week’s UEFA Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain.
Out of contention from domestic competitions, Los Blancos now have only Europe to focus on and their clash with Les Parisiens has been billed as the highlight clash of the round-of-16.
