After the Premier League announced that they would be awarding Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane a goal previously credited to Christian Eriksen, social media was inundated with memes pulling the Spurs frontman’s leg and now master impersonator and comedian Darren Farley has waded into the debate in his inimitable style.

Farley, who became famous for having impersonated the likes of Jamie Carragher, Steven Gerrard, Roy Hodgson, Brendan Rodgers and many other iconic footballing personalities, is clearly taking the mickey as he mimics Kane’s instantly-recognisable speech pattern and voice.

Kane’s goal will certainly go down in the dubious goals panel, for despite incessant tv replays of the moment, there seemed to be inconclusive evidence backing the 24-year-old’s claims.

The striker insisted that he got a slight touch off his shoulder and his testimony eventually swung the decision his way.

Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah, Kane’s competitor for the Premier League Golden Boot, took to Twitter to share his disbelief at the Premier League’s ruling and found support from quite a few of his club mates.

Salah tops the scoring charts with 29 strikes to his name, while Kane is now four behind the Egyptian.

Kane, however, has an extra game over Salah as Spurs have played 32 matches while Liverpool have played 33.

So with six games left in the Premier League season, the race for the Golden Boot definitely seems to be going down to the wire.

Kane will have a chance to trim that gap when Spurs host leaders Manchester City for a mammoth tie on Saturday while Salah will look to extend his season’s tally when Liverpool welcome Bournemouth on the same day.

Both players are on course to smash Luis Suarez’s record of most goals in a single Premier League season (31 goals).
