There were various transfer rumours concerning Lukaku. Initially, Inter Milan had shown interest in him while later Juventus also came forward as they discussed a player swap deal involving Paulo Dybala. However, Manchester United did not agree to the contract.
Eventually, the deal with Inter Milan was finalized and Lukaku went to Milan for a contract which will last till 2024.
“Inter were the only club I wanted, because Inter is Not For Everyone. I’m here to bring the Nerazzurri back to the top,” Lukaku said on Instagram.
“I’m really happy to be here! Thank you for the support. Forza Inter,” he added.
The Belgian International spent a couple of years at Manchester United after he arrived from Everton for a transfer fee which was estimated at £75 million in 2017.
The striker scored a dozen goals in the 2018-19 season and 15 goals across all competitions as Manchester United finished on the sixth place as he failed to go past Barcelona in the Champions League quarter-finals.
“To everyone involved with Manchester United – from the board to the manager and his staff, the players, and the fans. Thank you and good luck for the future @manchesterunited,” Lukaku said in a statement on social media.
