Prior to the ODI series against Bangladesh, fast bowler Mohd Shami injured his shoulder during a practise session. He won’t be able to participate in the three-match series while he is being watched over by the BCCI Medical Team at the NCA, Bengaluru.
In Shami’s replacement, Umran Malik has been selected by the All-India Senior Selection Committee to take the Indian pace spearhead slot.

Earlier this month, Umran got the ODI call-up against the Kiwis. In his debut series, Malik took 3 wickets in two innings by leaking 97 runs in 15 combined overs. He also clicked over 150 km numerous times in that series.
Although, India lost the series by 1-0, but Malik’s pace and aggression impressed everyone on the tour.
However, If Shami’s recovery is delayed, India will have to select a different bowler for the Test team. The two-match Test series is crucial since India must win both games to maintain their chances of making the World Test Championship final the following year.
