After Prime Minister Narendra Modi met newly crowned world champion PV Sindhu on Tuesday, para-badminton player Sukant Kadam has urged the Prime Minister to try and also meet the 12 players who have brought India medals in at the BWF Para-Badminton World Championship.
It is to be noted that while PV Sindhu and B Sai Praneeth won a gold and bronze respectively at the World Championships held in Basel, Switzerland, India also bagged in as many as 12 more medals in the Para-Badminton World Championship held in the same city. The twelve medals included three golds.

Post Sindhu’s historic win, PM Modi had met her on Tuesday, the day she returned to the country. It is after these developments that Sukant Kadam has requested the Prime Minister to meet the 12 players who have won medals in the competition. Kadam wrote to the PM that these players would also “want your blessings”.
“Honorable Narendra Modi sir, we Para-Badminton Athletes also won 12 medals in Para-Badminton World Championship and we also want your blessings. Request you to allow us to meet as we missed a chance after Asian Games,” Sukant tweeted.
Although PM has not yet given a word to meet them, he tweeted, “130 crore Indians are extremely proud of the Indian Para-Badminton contingent, which has brought home 12 medals at BWF World Championship 2019.
“Congratulations to the entire team, whose success is extremely gladdening and motivating. Each of these players is remarkable!”
Meanwhile, Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs has also congratulated the -Badminton players for making the country proud.
“They are the stars of India. Let’s salute our Para-Badminton players who brought laurels for India. Today, Sports Ministry took a decision to hand over the cash money to every player at the time of arrival itself which would amount up to 20 lakhs per athlete,” Rijiju tweeted.
