The PCB Chief Najam Sethi has recently backed Shahid Afridi’s appointment as national team’s interim chief selector. In a statement, showing his support to Afridi he has claimed that he can take ‘bold decisions’.
In a conversation with Arab News, Sethi said “He’s very popular, he’s the sort of person we want in the selection committee who can take bold decisions,”

“(Someone) to experiment with new talent, to realize where old is still gold and I think that was missing in this team which is why we had four defeats in a row in Test matches.
“Afridi was on board, he wanted to make some changes and he wanted the team to play bold and exciting cricket. We are not going to play to win or to lose, but we are now going to play the game in the true spirit,” he added.
The former Pakistani skipper was appointed as the interim chief selector after the new Pakistan Cricket Board’s management sacked Mohammad Wasim who did this role earlier. This came after Pakistan’s 0-3 whitewash in the home series against England last month.
