India’s star shuttler Saina Nehwal made the best of her day in Bangkok as she registered a 21-15, 20-22, 21-11 win over Japan’s Haruko Suzuki in the quarter-final match of the Thailand Grand Prix Gold badminton event.
“Tough win today #thailandGPG #quaterfinals ….. won in three sets 21-15 ,22-20, 21-11 ….,” Saina tweeted after the victory on Friday.
It took one hour and nine minutes for the second-seeded shuttler to beat Suzuki.
In the semi-final clash, Saina will face Thailand’s Busanan Ongbamrungphan, who will definitely put her soul into the game in front of the home crowd.
With this win, Saina joined male shuttler B Sai Praneeth, who defeated Thailand’s Kantaphon Wangcharoen in straight games 21-16, 21-17 to enter the semi-final.
