Sam Curran, who is only 20 years old, also won the title of Man of the Series for England. Curran had bailed out English team in the first Test by scoring a gritty 63 runs in the second innings. Curran also took five wickets in the match to inspire a memorable victory and claimed Man of the Match title.

In the second Test at Lord’s, Curran took one wicket and scored 40 runs. In the third Test, Curran was dropped by England and interestingly it was the only match that the home team lost. In the fourth Test, Sam Curran was recalled and he proved his worth all over again at Southampton by scoring 78 runs in the first innings and then added 46 in the second innings.

The fifth Test match between India and England was also former English skipper Alastair Cook’s last Test match. Before the start of the match, Cook, who is also England’s highest run-getter in the longest format of the game, has announced that he will retire after Kia Test.
