Italy’s professional football club AS Roma has announced an agreement to sign Brazilian goalkeeper Daniel Fuzato until 2022.
The 21-year-old played last season at the Brazilian club Palmeiras after coming up through their youth academy, and is Roma’s 10th summer signing, reports Efe.
“Today begins an incredible new adventure in my career,” Fuzato said in a statement on Roma’s website on Monday.
“I know Roma very well, because the club has a long tradition of great Brazilian goalkeepers. I will do everything I can to follow in their footsteps,” he added.
Fuzato will reinforce Roma’s goalkeeping roster, which already has Brazil’s Alisson Becker and Italy’s Antonio Mirante.
“In Daniel, we have identified a player with the potential to represent Roma in the future,” the club’s Spanish sporting director, Ramon Rodriguez Verdejo Monchi, said.
AS Roma officially tweeted “Summer signing number 10… Photoshop skills… Welcome to #AS Roma, Daniel Fuzato!” along with a video showcasing Fuzato’s photoshop skills as he pastes his own cut-out along with the other players.
Fuzato also chose to wear shirt No. 63 because it was the year his father was born, the club added.
