Indian cricket team will miss the services of team’s One Day International (ODIs) vice-captain Rohit Sharma in the last and fourth Test match of ongoing four-match Test series against Australia.
As per a report published in the Hindustan Times, Rohit Sharma has flown back home to be with wife Ritika Sajdeh after the birth of their first child. The duo has been blessed with a baby girl. However, Indian skipper Virat Kohli and coach Ravi Shastri have not asked for Rohit Sharma’s replacement for the last game.

Rohit Sharma will return to Australia for the three-match ODI series that would be played after the conclusion of the Test series.
“No, he will not be back in time for the fourth Test. He has already left for India after the game in Melbourne. He will be back for the ODIs, starting after the Test series. The team management has decided against asking for a replacement,” A BCCI official informed Hindustan Times.
With their 137 run win over Oz team, Virat Kohli-led team India have already retained the Gavaskar-Border trophy. The final match of the series will be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) starting on Thursday, 3rd January.
Speaking to media after taking an unassailable 2-1 lead, Virat Kohli said, “We are not going to stop here. This (win) will give us more confidence and we will play more positively in Sydney. I think we have been really smart in all the departments in the two matches that we have won. That is the reason we have at least retained the trophy but job is not done yet. It’s not finished at all. We want to win the last Test match as well, if an opportunity comes our way. We don’t want to be complacent. We are all but ready for the final Test match.”
