Defending Premier League champions Manchester City have got off to a stunning start to their Premier League campaign as they thrashed the West Ham 5-0. In other matches of the day, Burnley, Brighton and Tottenham got off to winning starts while the Everton -Crystal Palace Bournemouth-Sheff United clashes ended in draws.

Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling scored a hat-trick as he helped his team got off to a winning start to their title defending campaign by pounding West Ham 5-0.

Notably, City’s 5-0 win comes after they had watched their arch-rivals and the runners up of the previous edition Liverpool beat Norwich City 4-1 on Friday. City, on the other hand, announced that they were ready to successfully defend their title too.

Saturday also witnessed Burnley FC register a comfortable win against Southampton as Ashley Barnes scored a brace and Johann Berg Gudmundsson added another goal in Burnley FC’s 3-0 win. Meanwhile, Brighton also got off to a winning start against Watford. Abdoulaye Doucouré’s own goal helped Brighton open the scoring but post that second-half goals from Florin Andone and Neal Maupay ensured there was no coming back as Brighton won the match 3-0.

Crystal Palace and Everton produced a goalless draw while Sheffield United scored in the 88th minute, courtesy Billy Sharp, to register a 1-1 draw against Bournemouth after Chris Mepham had put Sheffield United in the driver’s seat with a 66th-minute goal.

In the last match of the day, in which Tottenham Hotspurs were up against Aston Villa, Tottenham came from behind to register a 3-1 win. John McGinn’s 9th minute goal meant that Aston Villa went into the first-half leading 1-0. But the second-half totally belonged to Tottenham. Tanguy Ndombele equalized for them in the 73rd minute of the match while Harry Kane’s brace (86th and 90th minute goals) ensured Tottenham win the match 3-1.
