Defending champions of the Premier League Manchester City stumbled at their home as their match against Tottenham Hotspur ended in a 2-2 tie.

Notably, Manchester City are the defending champions of two seasons but they failed to secure the important three points despite playing a good game. It was one of those days for City when the count that matters the most- goals- was not better than their opponents despite dominating the match for a better duration. The main reason for this was the Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper, Hugo Lloris who was in a great form. Lloris prevented many chances created by the home team and his performance ensured that Tottenham ended up securing a point.

Manchester City were spot on in the first half of the play in which Kevin De Bruyne set up two beautiful goals for the team. The first came in the 20th minute through a header which found the net.

However, Tottenham equalized soon after, thanks to a brilliant kick from Erik Lamela. City, however, took the lead back again in the 35th minute and it was only in the second-half that Tottenham could equalise and change the tempo of the match.

Despite drawing a match which they ideally should have won, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola said, “We played incredible.

“One of the best games we’ve played in our time together. We played good, but unfortunately we could not win. We’ll recover, train and prepare for the next game. We don’t have regrets. That’s the most important thing.”

Manchester City now have four points from two matches and are second behind Liverpool and Arsenal who have six points each from two matches each.
