Pakistani actor and host Veena Malik slammed Tennis star Sania Mirza after a picture and video of Pakistani cricketers along with Shoaib Malik and Mirza visiting a sheesha cafe prior to the India-Pakistan match went viral.

The photograph and video went viral following Pakistan’s defeat in the match against India owing to the poor performance of players. The controversy reached new heights when in a series of tweets, Malik, in response to the now deleted fan video, questioned Sania Mirza’s parenting style.

“Sania, I am actually so worried for the kid. You guys took him to a sheesha place isn’t it hazardous? Also as far as I know Archie’s is all about junk food which isn’t good for athletes/Boys. You must know well as you are mother and athlete yourself?,” Veena tweeted.

The tennis star shot back at the actor clarifying that she cared for her son, “more than anyone else.”

“Veena, I have not taken my kid to a sheesha place. Not that it’s any of your or the rest of the world’s business cause I think I care about my son a lot more than anyone else does 🙂 secondly I am not Pakistan cricket team’s dietician nor am I their mother or principal or teacher,” Mirza wrote.

On the tweet, netizens and fans began taking sides and defending each star for a variety of reasons.

Mirza further added, “To know when they sleep, wake up and eat .. thank you for your concern though .. means a lot.”

According to fans, the video that showed the Pakistan Cricket Team were at the sheesha cafe till 2 am in the morning was on the day of the crucial match with India. However, many have clarified and it is now being stated that the video is of June 14 (Friday) and not Saturday as is being alleged by many on social media.

Mirza later tried to close the debate around the Pakistani team’s performance and fans’ ideas and theories by signing off with a tweet that read, ” Twitter cracks me up and some ppl for sure .. you guys really need other mediums of taking your frustrations out .. peace out guys it’s break time .”

In a statement, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) clarified that no player had violated curfew and returned to their hotel rooms on time the night before Pakistan’s match against India. The board added that players had gone out with their families two days before the match.
