Golden State Warriors guard-forward Andre Iguodala has been fined $25,000 for throwing the ball into the spectator stands during a National Basketball Association (NBA) game on 29 December.

Golden State Warriors were playing the Portland Trail Blazers.

The fine was announced by Kiki VanDeWeghe, Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations, NBA, on Monday.

“The incident, for which Iguodala received a technical foul and was ejected, occurred after time had expired in the second quarter of the Warriors’ 115-105 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on Dec. 29 at Moda Center,” NBA said in a statement.

The Golden Warriors beat the Trail Blazers 115-105 in the game played in Portland, Oregon.

Iguodala, however, explained to reporters Saturday night that he was simply attempting a terrible halfcourt shot and not throwing the ball in frustration at all, Yahoo Sports reported.

According to reports, Iguodala’s “shot attempt” landed 10 rows behind the basket, and that he threw the ball at least two seconds after the buzzer sounded.
