India Premier League teams are quite vocal and active on social media to engage fans with ‘witty’ Tweets and remarks as they wait for the next season of the cash-rich league to start.

Ahead of the IPL auctions, Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings were engaged in a clever banter on micro-blogging site Twitter on Tuesday.

“Find a better allrounder trio. We will wait,” wrote Mumbai Indians with a picture of Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard and Krunal Pandya.

Responding to the Tweet, SunRisers Hyderabad official Twitter handle wrote, “The wait is over,” posting with a photograph of Mohammad Nabi, Rashid Khan and Shakib Al Hasan.

After SRH’s reply, taking a dig at the SunRisers, MI posted a picture of their three IPL trophies and captioned the image as “the wait goes on”.

However, defending champions Chennai Super Kings had the last laugh as they posted a Tweet with an image of its captain MS Dhoni alone and captioned it “Three faces”.

Here is how Twitter users reacted:

The reply of Chennai Super Kings drew more retweets and likes than the original tweet by Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians.
