Right-handed batsman MS Dhoni was born on 7 July 1981 in Ranchi. After being drafted into the side as a wicketkeeper-batsman, he soon became an integral part of the team and went on to become one of India’s most loved and successful captains.
He became the only captain in the World to lift all three ICC trophies: ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, ICC Champions Trophy 2013 and ICC World T20 2007. He also went on to lead the Indian team to number one Test rankings.
Having achieved so many feats as a captain and wicketkeeper, he also has a wicket against his name in the International circuit.
He dismissed this batsman
Having featured in 349 One Day Internationals, Mahendra Singh Dhoni also has a wicket to his credit. He took this wicket against West Indies in 2009. This was the Champions Trophy match in which India had won the toss and elected to bowl first.
In this match, which was played at Johannesburg, Indian bowlers had exerted a lot of pressure on the West Indies batsmen and did not allow them to score freely.
Even Dhoni joined the party. He bowled a couple of overs in this match and dismissed West Indian Travis Dowlin by disturbing his stumps.
Bowled in a semi-final match
Dhoni is often known for his unusual decisions that seem to work for him. In another such incident, he started bowling in the semi-final match in Cardiff against Sri Lanka of the ICC Champions Trophy 2013.
In this match played at Cardiff, Dhoni bowled four overs of his medium pace and although he did not pick up a wicket, he gave away only 17 runs conceding a lone boundary.
India went on to win this match by eight wickets.
Bowled against four teams in Test Matches
Perhaps his lone wicket in One Day Internationals inspired him to bowl in Test Matches too but he did not pick up any wicket. Mahi bowled against Pakistan, England, New Zealand and South Africa in the longest format of the game. He bowled 16 overs and conceded 67 runs including a maiden.
