Following Mohammed Shami’s wife Hasin Jahan accused him of cheating and domestic violence, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the new contract for Indian players from which Shami was excluded.
According to a report published by NDTV, Shami’s contract has not been renewed due to his wife’s allegations of torture and extra-marital affairs.

“Shami has been dropped from the player contracts system because his wife filed a complaint against him,” a source close to BCCI told NDTV.
As per reports, the Indian pacer can win back the BCCI contract once proven innocent.
“Shami has been dropped from the contract due to disciplinary reason and will be included in the contract list if (his) innocence is proved,” sources said.
Last year, Shami was placed in B category of BCCI’s contract.
However, this year BCCI had introduced a new category ‘A+’, which includes skipper Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar — all of them entitled to Rs. 7 crore as annual pay.
In Grade A contracts, seven players are included. MS Dhoni, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Murali Vijay, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane and Wriddhiman Saha are placed in the second grade. The players in this grade will be paid Rs. 5 crores annually.
In Grade B contracts, likes of KL Rahul, Umesh Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Hardik Pandya, Ishant Sharma and Dinesh Karthik are there. These players will be paid Rs. 3 crore each annually.
In Grade C contracts, seven players — Kedar Jadhav, Manish Pandey, Axar Patel, Karun Nair, Suresh Raina, Parthiv Patel and Jayant Yadav — will be paid Rs. 1 crore each annually.
Earlier, reports surfaced in the media about Hasin Jahan accusing her husband of having extra-marital affairs.
“Whatever I have posted is just the tip of the iceberg. Shami’s acts are far more heinous. He has relationships with multiple women,” Jahan said.
She alleged that Shami’s family had also been torturing her for more than two years.
“Everyone in their family used to torture me. His mother and brother used to abuse me. The tortures continued till 2-3 am in the morning. They even wanted to kill me,” Jahan said, adding: “Shami abused me and started beating me even after returning from South Africa. He has been doing this for quite some time now and now I have had enough.”
Stating that she would approach the police, Jahan said: “I tried to convince myself for the sake of my family and daughter but he kept on harassing me and when I found those obscene chats with multiple women, all hell broke. I cannot tolerate this anymore and I have decided to take legal actions with all the available evidence.”
Mohammed Shami’s wife reportedly spoke to the Jadavpur police about her situation on January 8 after coming back to Kolkata.
Notably, Shami had earlier slammed internet trolls for targeting his wife for her selection of outfits.
